Dr. Hutchins, Dr. R.P. Berkowitz, a Gynecologist, and Dr. Worthington-Kirsch, an Interventional Radiologist, in 1999, published the largest individual case series in the world literature reporting 305 consecutive Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) cases – “Selective Uterine Artery Embolization as Primary Treatment for Symptomatic Leiomyomata Uteri”, J Am Assoc Gynecol Laparos 1999. Dr. Hutchins and Dr. Robert Worthington-Kirsch were the second Gynecologist and Interventional Radiologist team in the United States to begin performing Uterine Artery Embolization treatment for fibroids in the second half of 1996.
