Gluteoplasty
(a.k.a. Brazilian Butt Lift)
What
is Gluteoplasty?
This technique is also known as the Brazilian Butt lift, Fat transfer, and
buttock augmentation by microfat grafting.
Gluteoplasty
is a safe and effective way to give you a rounder, fuller bottom. Men and
women who have a flat rear end have had no option other than implantation
of plastic devices until recently. This new procedure recycles your own
body fat and permanently transfers it into the buttock, otherwise known as
the gluteus maximus muscle, giving you a long lasting shapely buttock.
Surgical
remedies such as the Brazilian butt lift are successfully augmenting
buttocks, leaving patients with a more beautifully contoured and rounded
backside.
How Is It Performed?
Extra fat in
areas such as the abdomen, flanks, hips, lower back or thighs will be
removed and transferred into the buttock. The fat is removed with very
gentle, low-vacuum liposuction using a special cannula (metal tube) to
protect the living fat cells. The fat particles are purified, and then
inserted into the muscle of the buttocks (gluteal muscle) thru a single
puncture. The fat is peppered throughout the muscle so each fat cell will
have a good blood supply.
What are the complications for this
procedure?
Although the
risks are minimal, any surgery has possible risks and will vary depending
on the patient. All risks will be discussed during a consultation
What Types Of Physicians
Perform Cosmetic Surgery?
To begin
with it is important to distinguish plastic (reconstructive) surgery from
cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgeons are trained to reconstruct distortions
of the body due to injury, disease or birth defects.
Cosmetic
surgery attempts to alter the appearance of parts of the body electively
to make them more appealing in the eyes of the patient. As such any
surgically trained individual who takes appropriate specialized training
in cosmetic surgical techniques can qualify. Thus cosmetic surgery is
performed by dermatologists, gynecologists, maxillofacial surgeons,
plastic surgeons, etc.
