Mike Waltman's video interview (2006): Fibroids: The Partner's Perspective (At age 7 Mike Waltman experienced what it feels like to have a parent 'disappear' due to a tragic accident, and what affect it had on his family life. He experienced the surprise of Hope being diagnosed with uterine fibroids in 2001. Mike talks to many women and men at Health Fairs and on Hope For Fibroids Men & Family.) The negativity of some gynecologists opened up my eyes to how women are being cared for and I didn't like it. I did not like the way some doctors are hiding medical information from their patients. During my experience, with my wife - Hope, I saw first hand that some doctors are not informing their patients of all the available uterine fibroid treatments. Women are being swayed into making decisions about their bodies without all the facts. This causes some women later on to realize that they made a wrong decision because of lack of information about their medical condition. I feel strongly that this web site and support group will be beneficial to women and men. Women need us (men) to be supportive during this time in their lives. From my experience I know that men need a support group also because uterine fibroids cause a lot of stress to the entire family. I am actively involved with the organization as the Marketing Director. I help coordinate and organize the displays for health fairs and other community functions for the Hope For Fibroids, Inc. I feel the involvement in the community functions is an important resource for helping women cope with uterine fibroid disease. I urge men and women to feel free to contact me and express their concerns and questions. My e-mail address is Mike. Best Regards,
