To celebrate
International Women Day, Brazilian Interventional Radiologists, Dr.
Nestor Kisilevzky and Dr. Henrique Elkis launched an UFE program
addressed to low-income people in Sao Paulo City.
They conceived an IR Mobile Unit named “ANGIOMOVEL” to provide public hospitals with an UFE clinical program. The concept consists basically in taking a mobile C arm, a table and supplies for temporary installing them in an operative room provided by the hospital. The first case of an UFE procedure using this methodology was done last Friday and was a tremendous success. The program’s slogan is “Providing Medical Technology with Social Responsibility in Benefic of Women Heath”.
Dr. Kisilevzky will present some details of this program at SIR Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
In the metropolitan area of Sao Paulo, there are 2,3 million of women between the age of 30 and 45 and 63% of them have no heath insurance coverage and consequently depend on the public health system where there are no UFE programs available in a routine basis.
